About me
Kabir is the co-owner of Flight Wine Shop alongside his wife and business partner, Swati Bose. Originally from Afghanistan, Kabir was sent to Hungary at 15 for safety and educational opportunities before reuniting with his family in San Diego at age 20. After years of working and supporting his family, including running his own auto shop, he resumed his studies and moved to New York City to pursue a career in finance.
Kabir met Swati in 2002 during an internship in Washington, DC. He later attended the Yale School of Management while Swati pursued law school, and over the following decade the couple traveled extensively, developing a shared passion for wine, food, and hospitality.
In 2012, they moved to Washington, DC to open Flight Wine Bar, which opened in 2014 and became known for its award winning wine program focused on small producers and lesser known regions. During its ten year run, Flight Wine Bar received two James Beard Award nominations before closing in December of 2023. Today, Kabir and Swati continue their hospitality journey as Certified Sommeliers and owners of Flight Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia.
