Virginia Wine Trade Intensive

I am Cosima, Ellwood's buyer for wine and cheese. I wanted to work in health foods and farming as I switched my career in 2022. Instead, wine literally fell into my lap, and I was given the challenge to buy for Ellwoods. I had very little knowledge about wine and have been very thankful for all the teachers VA has brought me. I have grown-up all-over VA and love the state with my whole soul. Instead of throwing wine off to the side, I tend to look at it medicinally with emphasis on farming and how to drink wine safely with good health food. As I continue to grow my career in the wine industry, I hope to continue to learn about the farming side of growing grapes in VA. I also want to influence more organic and biodynamic farming within the state, even if that means rewriting the rules to fit our amazing hybrid varieties here. I love giving ideas to those with the energies to make them happen. Let's make VA wine as big as the old-world wineries combined. Va is a whole world of history, culture, and diversity that we can give to the rest of the world. Our terroir speaks, smells, and breathes Virginia air.
